1856 (6 Nov) Nicholson envelope to Melbourne bearing 1847-54 1/- Pale Green Die 2 Embossed X 6 plus 1855-57 6d Deep Lilac cancelled by 877 numerals with Whitehaven despatch CDS alongside there is also a printed label Registered Letter in Red (thought to have only been used in Whitehaven) the reverse bears London transit and Ship Letter/Melbourne arrival dated oval (7.1) This envelope has created much interest in the past as each of the 1/- green stamps are the same size and it has been conjectured that these were cut from the sheet with a die cutter.
