3 May 83 Jersey 40th Anniv of the award of the Victoria Cross to Gp Capt L. Trent VC Special Postmark Flown in Mosquito from Hatfield to Humberside Airport then Kirmington to Hatfield. Cover depicts Major James Cordes Handley Page Heyford and Handley Page Halifax Personally Signed by Major James Cordes Served in WW1 and saw active service as a company Commander in the 2nd Battalion Gloucester Regiment. Wounded at Salonica whilst in hospital in Malta developed an interest in flying. He was attached to the Royal Flying Corps in 1916 and undertook his flying course at Aboukir in Egypt where he flew Maurice farman Shorthorns. Returned to England in 1917 to train on Bristol F2B and then joined 48 Sqn in France where he shot down 2 enemy aircraft plus one not confirmed. Later became test pilot with Handley Page.
