1853 (21 Mar.) commercial entire to Bordeaux marked Registered with number 164 rated 2/7 london/paid despatch c.d.s. the tall type crowned registered in red (this type showing a more elaborate crown serif letters) PD in oval and Calais transit (22.3) the reverse with Bordeaux arrival (24.3). Clean and fine. All pre-1860 outgoing registered mail to overseas is much scarcer than the equivalent incoming mail.
