1943 SS City of Baroda wreck mail with damaged by seawater cachet. The British cargo ship was travelling as part of Convoy NC-9 on route from London to Calcutta when she was torpedoed by U509 on 2nd April. She was carrying 7000 tons of cargo 1500 mail bags and 230 passengers. She was towed to Luderitz Bay Southwest Africa and grounded on 7th April being declared a total loss. A small amount of mail was recovered and had this special cachet applied.
