1884 4d Blue National Telephone Company Complete sheet of twelve

1844 4d Blue Very fine unused o.g. complete sheet of twelve. (mounted in the top margin only) The National Telephone Company stamps bearing the portrait of Colonel Robert Raynsford Jackson (Chairman of the National Telephone Company) caused considerable offence at the time of issue due to the omission of the portrait of Queen Victoria and were officially withdrawn from use in 1891 at the request of the Postmaster-General. Scarce in this superb condition.
