Handstruck 4 of Edinburgh on redirected cover uprated to 8d (23th Dec 1839)

Used within the Uniform Four Penny Post Experimental period which started on the 5th of December and ended on the 9th of January 1840 lasting only 36 days. Virtually all marks were done in manuscript. posted to Bonar on the 23rd of December where it was then redirected to Crieff. The Edinburgh 4 was crossed out and a manuscript 8 was applied at Bonar (4d for each journey)
