Penny Star (TB) Ardee CDS in dark blue-green on cover

Louth/Ardee CDS/K11(SG40). 1861 mourning envelope sent locally in Ardee to T Lee Norman at Corballis with a single Penny Star plate 60 tied by two strikes of the small single-ring ARDEE JU 10 61 circular Datestamp in Dark Blue-Green with a further strike on reverse. A very unusual use of a Backstamp as a primary canceller due to the letter being local. The 5 numeral Diamond of Ardee was withdrawn by the 1857 list and was not restored to Ardee until the 1874 list.
