The Essex Post was part of the General Post and it was applied at London to letters from the Colchester area. The slogan postmarks advertise the posts from London which ran every day on the Kent and Essex roads. The Essex post ran daily to Colchester and three days a week to Yarmouth. 19th Jan 1674/5 Entire from St Osith (12 miles South of Colchester) to Thamas Leman at Robert Claytons House (number 8) Old Jurey in London.
