1884(-96) STAMP DUTY 8 pounds die proof in black on unwmkd wove (34x65mm). Slight horizontal crease in lower surround but a rare and beautiful item one of only five die proofs known for this value all of which are in different states this example showing the completed crown but lacking the J L inscription. (N.B. Although this proof made c.1879 is clearly typographed the issued stamps were printed by lithography.) Original Purchased from Stanley Gibbons (Still on their card)
