Signed by Second Lieutenant Richard Wallace Annand The Durham Light Infantry Awarded the Victoria Cross for Most Conspicuous Gallantry on the 15th-16th May 1940 on the south side of the River Dyle. Flown from Biggin Hill in Wassmer WA51a G-AZYZ via Ostende Gente to overfly Eben Emael near Liege where on 11th May 1940 glider-borne troops of Battalion Koch captured the key Belgian Fortress. Then returned to Biggin Hill via Ostende West Malling and Detling
